House Members Introduce Access to Medicare Imaging Act

On February 28, 2007, Representatives Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), Joseph Pitts (R-PA), and Gene Green (D-TX) introducted HR 1293, the Access to Medicare Imaging Act. This legislation would institute a two-year moratorium on payment adjustments for medical imaging services as established under the Deficit Reduction Act. ASNC is working with the Access to Medical Imaging Coalition, which developed the legislation, to illustrate a show of support among lawmakers for fair and adequate imaging reimbursement and opposition to current and any further arbitrary cuts in medical imaging services.
