Cardiac CT and CT Angiography

Purpose

These courses are designed to prepare cardiologists to fulfill the ACCF/AHA CTA training guidelines, with particular attention given to hands-on computer workstation training. The participant is assumed to already have some basic knowledge of CT and CT angiography principles. In order to provide an optimal study environment, a maximum of two attendees will be assigned to each workstation.  These courses have been designed in a modular format so that participants may register for an individual day or for more than one day.

Target Audience

The program is designed specifically for cardiologists who are performing coronary CTA.

Objectives

Upon completion of the program, participants will:

  • Perform hands-on computer interpretation of coronary CTA
  • View taped live cases
  • Interpret mentored coronary CTA cases  
  • Demonstrate an understanding of common acquisition techniques as well as strengths and limitations of coronary CTA

Faculty

Faculty for these programs will be announced in early 2008.

Accreditation

The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education to physicians.

CME Credit

ASNC designates this educational activity for a minimum of 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ per day and or 32 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for all four days. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  

Case Breakdown

Days one and two will offer a minimum of 15 mentored cases and 5 taped live cases each day.  Days three and four will offer a minimum of 20 mentored cases each day.

Case Credits

The cases in this course will count toward fulfilling the ACCF/AHA clinical competency guidelines for coronary CTA published in July 2005.  A certificate will be issued stating the actual number of cases each attendee reviews. 

Equipment

State-of-the-art workstations with full spectrum software will be provided to each individual. The Maryland courses will use Vitrea workstations. Detailed supervision and tutoring will be provided by computer applications specialists and physician experts. Each station will have a maximum of two attendees.

Registration Fee

Attendees can register for one day, multiple days, or the entire four days. The registration fee is determined by the number of days attending. Registration for the course is $1,000 per day or $3,500 for the entire program. 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations received 14 days or more prior to the start of the course will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the registration fee. If there is a waitlist and a replacement can be found, a full refund less a $250 processing fee will be provided. No refunds for cancellations received less than 14 days prior to the start of the course.  

In the unlikely event that the program is canceled, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology will refund the registration fee in full but is not responsible for any hotel, travel, or other costs you may incur.
