Nuclear Cardiology Foundation Programs
The Nuclear Cardiology Foundation is an affiliate of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. The mission of the Nuclear Cardiology Foundation is to advance the field of nuclear cardiology through increasing the awareness among patients and the public of the value of nuclear cardiology, encouraging new basic and clinical research, and extending the field to incorporate related emerging technologies.

Research Awards

The Nuclear Cardiology Foundation Research Award program gives young investigators an opportunity to initiate a career in nuclear cardiology research and is intended to assist these individuals in performing research that will add important new information to the cardiac imaging literature.  The goal of this program is to support research training in basic scientific research and clinical/translational research in nuclear cardiology and its related fields such as cardiac molecular imaging, cardiovascular computed tomography, cardiac PET, cardiac CT, or PET/CT.  To apply for a research award, click here.

Patient Awareness Initiative

The Nuclear Cardiology Foundation Patient Awareness Initiative focuses on those physicians who are often the first line of defense in detecting coronary artery disease and those patients who are at an increased risk for heart disease.  Through a series of informational brochures identifying the lesser known signs and symptoms of at-risk populations and the tests most often used by nuclear cardiologists, the Foundation aims to educate physicians and disseminate information about nuclear cardiology to a broad audience.  Current topics include:  myocardial perfusion imaging, women and CAD, and diabetics and heart disease.  For more information on this program, click here.

Quality of Care Program

The Nuclear Cardiology Foundation Quality of Care Initiative highlights the clinical documents, best practices, and standards of care that help nuclear cardiology professionals deliver the highest level of cardiovascular care.  Through brochures, e-newsletters, educational sessions, and online content, the Nuclear Cardiology Foundation disseminates and explains information critical to optimal care.  From lab accreditation to imaging guidelines, the Quality of Care program brings peer-reviewed, evidence-based recommendations to everyday practice.  Click here for more information on the Quality of Care program.

Invitational Conference and Research Promotion Program

The Nuclear Cardiology Invitational Conference is an influential meeting, engaging cardiology and nuclear cardiology leaders in plans for developing the field and in discussions of scientific issues relating to the future of nuclear cardiology.  Representatives have an opportunity to meet with ASNC leadership and leading researchers in nuclear cardiology.  Following the conference, a summary of findings is disseminated to ASNC members.  More information on the 2008 Invitational Conference will be available soon.

The Nuclear Cardiology Foundation Young Investigator Award

The Young Investigator Award recognizes individuals for their outstanding abstract submissions.  Awardees present their abstract at the ASNC Annual Scientific Session.  For more information on the Young Investigator Award, click here.

The Nuclear Cardiology Foundation 5K Fun Run/Walk

The Nuclear Cardiology Foundation hosts a 5K Fun Run/Walk at the ASNC Annual Scientific Session, which is a great way to actively involve individuals in the Foundation.  In its inaugural year, the Foundation 5K Fun Run/Walk boasted more than 50 participants.  More information on the 5K Fun Run/Walk in Boston, MA, will be available soon.
